European Youth Convention in Berlin: FES congress on international Agenda Setting

20 Oct 2007

35 participants from 15 countries met, as announced previously, from the 16th until the 18th of October, 2007, in Berlin, to learn and discuss about international agenda setting with special respect on the Darfur Crisis. "Manana" Youth Educational-Cultural Center was one of the participants as a member of European Youth Press.

The event was hosted by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and generously supported by the GTZ (Society for Technical Cooperation), who also provided valuable input on topics such as the above mentioned conflict in Darfur, and others, that are being neglected by those responsible for the international agenda setting. The discussions within the group about the situation in the respective countries was very successful and enlightening for most of the participants, even though there are basic similarities in the agenda setting there are before all many differences and grievances.

On the second day, the participants had the chance to reflect about the manifold input of the previous day and work with the topic themselves, which was very important in order to process the before heard and learnt. Part of the group was invited to visit MSF (Medicines sans Frontiers) and got another special input for th eir personal work and reflection on the agenda setting topic.

Manana's two participants, Gor Baghdasaryan and Lusine Babayan, were included in two workshops, blog writing and agenda setting. The materials produced during the congress can be found at www.orangelog.eu.
